Ocean Service Contract Negotiation
- Helped manage service contract Request for Proposal bids and global contract negotiations for one of the world's largest beverage and food manufacturers with an annual ocean transportation spend of over $20 million and volume of more than 8000 FEU worldwide. Our efforts led to an annual savings of 25% below the previous year
- Negotiated new annual service contracts for the largest cruise line in the world with over 3000 FEU in 50 trade lanes. 2009 results show a savings in excess of 1.4 million in ocean transportation costs
- Identified over $400,000 in immediate cost savings for a large consumer goods company that imports more than 20,000 FEU into the US per year
- Prepared Request for Proposal (RFP) for a global exporter covering 70 trade lanes worldwide and over 2500 FEU. Complied bids from eight carriers. Worked with client to successfully negotiate multiple service contract, improving their service levels and saving them over $1 million in annual ocean transportation costs
- Reached a deal on three TransPacific Eastbound contracts for a large US Midwest firm, reducing their ocean transportation costs by over $900,000
- Negotiated service contracts for Asia to Caribbean cargo that provided the client with additional space in a high demand trade, while reducing transportation costs by over $100,000
- Supported Request for Proposal Bids and contract negotiations from 13 carriers for a large Transpacific eastbound shipper, resulting in savings of over USD500,000 over market rate levels
- Managed discussions and pricing regarding a 500 FEU service contract for an importer of batteries from Colombia to the USA that has reduced their ocean transportation costs by over $200,000
- On behalf of a Shippers Association, negotiated service contracts from the USA to the West Coast of South America, saving Association members over $150,000 annually in ocean transportation costs
Tariff and Contract Management Software
- Coordinated efforts of Tariff Software Company and a major ocean transportation company to automate their tariff and service contracts. This automation saves the carrier thousands of dollars in publishing costs and reduces headcount
New Market Expansion
- Developed a comprehensive market expansion study for a major ocean transportation company. Study included profit and loss analysis based on current freight rates and slot costs. The carrier was able to profitably enter into this new market
Pricing Process Improvement
- Redesigned and simplified tariffs for an ocean transportation company while reducing tariff publishing costs and eliminating rating errors
Support Services
- Developed and implemented a complete customer satisfaction survey for an ocean transportation company. Interviewed over 600 customers in multiple languages in person and by phone. Our survey results were the main driver behind this company's new set of Key Process Indicators which led to improved customer relations. The client rates our project as "exceeding expectations", specifically remarking on our flexibility in meeting their needs
- Coordinated efforts on behalf of a major exporter to reposition empty equipment and eliminated $20,000 in demurrage costs
